It’s been several months since I came across this article about the myth that lack of self-control is the what keeps people poor, and I keep going back to read it again. There are so many factors contributing to poverty and blaming the people who are trapped there doesn’t help.
We can reach out in compassion, building on the resources that already exist.
“Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person…” (from 1 Thessalonians 5)
We all know how it feels to be exhausted by life. That’s a place where we can all connect and encourage one another.
